This book has been created for carvers of varying skills levels. The projects will vary from those that can be completed using only a knife and a v-tool to those that are much more sophisticated and challenging. Each project will have a close up view of the facial features, four full figure views, some helpful dialogue, at least two line drawing views, and a pattern to use for cutting out blanks. The book ends with sections on carving squint eyes, a short section on painting with emphasis on painting rosy cheeks and more realistic eyes. It concludes with a pictorial description and dialogue describing one method for carving a complete face and all its features. All the pattern models were cut from Basswood, the most popular of carving woods. All were cut with a band saw using a 3/16 inch, 4 skip tooth blade. This blade will rake out the excess sawdust and allow you to back out of a cut (much more).
